Also during the late 18th and the 19th century non-conformist movements took hold and at one time there were six non-conformist establishments within the town. It wasn&#8217;t until 1911 that the <a href=\"http:\/\/launcestonthen.co.uk\/index.php\/the-place\/churches-and-chapels-of-launceston\/st-cuthbert-mayne-church\/\">Roman Catholic<\/a> population officially had its own place of worship with the construction of their church on St. Stephens Hill dedicated to the martyr <a href=\"http:\/\/launcestonthen.co.uk\/index.php\/the-people\/cuthbert-mayne\/\">St. Cuthbert Mayne<\/a>. The Non-Conformist also left their mark on the town with <a href=\"http:\/\/launcestonthen.co.uk\/index.php\/the-place\/churches-and-chapels-of-launceston\/wesleyan-methodist-church\/\">Wesleyan Chapels<\/a> in Castle Street and St. Stephens Hill, a Baptist Chapel along Western Road, a <a href=\"http:\/\/launcestonthen.co.uk\/index.php\/the-place\/churches-and-chapels-of-launceston\/congregational-church\/\">Congregational Chapel<\/a> in Castle Street, a <a href=\"http:\/\/launcestonthen.co.uk\/index.php\/the-place\/churches-and-chapels-of-launceston\/bible-christian-church\/\">Bible Christian Chapel<\/a> in Tower Street and finally a <a href=\"http:\/\/launcestonthen.co.uk\/index.php\/the-place\/churches-and-chapels-of-launceston\/united-free-methodist-church\/\">United Methodist Chapel<\/a> on St. Thomas road.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n<p>Visits: 389<\/p><!--themify_builder_content-->\n<div id=\"themify_builder_content-1334\" data-postid=\"1334\" class=\"themify_builder_content themify_builder_content-1334 themify_builder tf_clear\">\n    <\/div>\n<!--\/themify_builder_content-->\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Launceston, unusually, encompasses three parishes which in turn are serviced by their own parish church.
